Yes, genuinely free. No credit card required, no 14-day trial, no "freemium bait." You get up to 25 customers, unlimited jobs, scheduling, and manual PDF invoicing for free — for as long as you want. The catch is you don't get automation (scheduled reminders, auto invoicing, SMS) until Pro — those cost us real money to run.

We looked at what tradespeople actually earn and what they already pay for other apps. At £19/mo, if Gleam saves you chasing even one £50 invoice per month, it's paid for itself. Jobber starts at £39, Tradify at £22. We priced Pro to be the obvious choice, not a grudge purchase.

Gleam does not add its own cut on top of your card payments. GoCardless charges ~1% + 20p per Direct Debit. Stripe charges ~1.5% + 20p per card transaction. These are standard UK market rates — the same as iZettle or SumUp — and go directly to the payment provider, not to us. Your £19/mo covers Gleam's costs entirely.

Pay annually and Pro drops to £15/mo, billed as £180 upfront — that's £48 saved compared to monthly billing, equivalent to two months free. Annual plans are cancellable with a pro-rata refund for the unused months. Exact terms confirmed at launch.

You'll see a warning in the app before you hit the limit. Additional SMS cost £0.06 each and are charged at end of month. The average sole trader uses around 100–150 SMS/month, so most Pro users will never hit the cap.

Your data is always yours. If you cancel Pro and drop to Free, your job history and customer records are preserved — you just lose access to Pro features until you resubscribe. If you cancel entirely, you can export everything first. We delete your data on request, in line with our privacy policy.

VAT-compliant invoicing with VAT number, rate breakdown, and Making Tax Digital compliance is on the near-term roadmap. At launch, invoices include all core fields. Join the waitlist and flag your VAT needs — it helps us prioritise the feature.
